We recommend the following event resources:
The NCEF Calendar (National Clearinghouse for Educational Facilities) provides information on educational-facilities-related events of regional or national importance, including conferences, courses, workshops, competitions, trade shows, press conferences and more. Contact Judy Marks if you would like to learn more.
The “What’s New” section of the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development) Programme on Educational Building (PEB) promotes the international exchange and analysis of policy, research and experience in all matters related to educational building. The planning and design of educational facilities – schools, colleges and universities – has an impact on educational outcomes which is significant but hard to quantify. Building and running those facilities accounts for a substantial part of public educational expenditure in OECD countries.
The AIA CAE Calendar (American Institute of Architects, Committee on Architecture in Education) highlights events concerned with the quality and design of all types of educational, cultural, and recreational facilities. Contact Donnie Williamson if you would like to learn more.
The “What’s New” section of AAF “Great Schools By Design” (American Architectural Foundation) shares past and upcoming events dedicated to improving the quality of America’s schools and the communities they serve by promoting, collaboration, excellence and innovation in school design.
The CEFPI Calendar (Council of Educational Facility Planners International) focuses on events that improve the places where children learn. CEFPI members — individuals, institutions and corporations — are actively involved in planning, designing, building, equipping and maintaining schools and colleges.
The SCUP Calendar (Society for College and University Planning) highlights events dedicated to sharing, learning, and teaching best practices in planning for colleges and universities. SCUP takes a holistic view of planning; as its name implies, it embraces the full spectrum of planning functions at a postsecondary institution, including, but not limited to: academic, campus or master facilities, budgeting and financial resources, infrastructure, and strategic.
The “News” section at BSF (Building Schools for the Future) shares updated events related to the early consultation and planning to completion of new buildings at hundreds of school sites across England. Stay in touch right here with developments, BSF events, progress updates and press releases on the programme.
The ArchNewsNow Calendar considers events well beyond the field of school design, but it has a great eye for conferences that touch upon topics near and dear to the educational facility planning/design/construction community. You can also subscribe to ANN’s daily e-Newsletter that summarizes a wide range of cutting-edge design stories from around the world.
The American School and University magazine Calendar provides K-12 and higher-education administrators responsible for the planning, design, construction, retrofit, operations, maintenance and management of education facilities with relevant industry events.
