Design Patterns

Welcoming Entry:

Home Base and Individual Storage: We are hoping to add storage with future funding.

Art, Music, Performance: Our school curriculum includes performance oriented learning inclusive of puppet show training, team singing, clay modelling, painting etc. Skills acquired by our children are showcased and shared with the community.

Casual Eating Areas: We did not have funding for a cafetaria. An open pavilion that links the activity verandah and rear stage, serves as a shaded informal earing area with floor mats. Students bring home food in plastic baskets and stack them in the pavilion.

Dispersed Technology:

Flexible Spaces: Stage area and the open pavilion act as flexible spaces.

Designing for Multiple Intelligences: The school is for a non governmental organization which partners with the state government for a reading program called in 7800 statewide schools. Our school curriculum includes activity based reading, science, maths, arts and crafts and spatial skill development programs. Activity based learning aids interpersonal and intrapersonal skill development.

Daylight and Solar Energy: With windows and "jallis" ( brick trellises) on two sides we achieved good daylighting for the shallow school volume. We are struggling and working towards completing vegetative cover solar shading of the verandah.

Connected to the Community: Our school is located central to about five villages. Members from the local community, local government and education department officials regularly visit our school events.
