Herget Middle SchoolIntroduction The school sits like a heroic farmhouse on a 38-acre rural property. Organized around a spine, this school’s sustainable planning bends so as to take in the rural vistas. Within the west wing, the classroom clusters plug into the main organizing element, a central barn-like space, that includes library, technology center, life skills, process labs, science project room, conference rooms, student services, restrooms, and lockers. Configured around a resource area, each classroom cluster is themed around a different componenet of education. Each classroom has a large sectional roll up door to maximize the connection between classroom and resource area. Within the east wing sits the administration, gymnasium, multi-purpose room, cafeteria, and support spaces.
