Introduction

Innovative planning and design features of this new facility include:

• Planning Process – Highly inclusive planning process included community stakeholders including representatives from the local air force base who account for half of district’s enrollment
• Learning Organization – Team teaching facilities are clustered to support learning organization of three teachers and 70 students
• Community Use – Design allows for community use and access to selected facilities while maintaining security of student areas
• Design Process – Extensive life-cycle analyses used in evaluation and selection of materials and systems with an emphasis on long-term performance and maintenance
• High Performance Design Features include extensive use of natural light and a geothermal heating
