York Region School for Athletics and Healthy Active LivingImages
Fourth Floor PlanPerched above the athletics courtyard, the library occupies a unique location within the school. Open, stretching, reaching, the library has been designed as a visual landmark/gateway to the campus, and a metaphor for the challenges of higher learning. Visually expressed on the school's exterior, the library is an outward extension to the community, an invitation to lifelong learning. With it's distinctive form, it will be recognizable as a beacon for the complex from as far as Highway 407. Internally the library will feature extensive seminar rooms and information technology geared to support distant learners and elite athletes, a place to work and meet with their instructors. To support the programming of the library, computer and science labs occupy the remainder of this floor level. Comparable to the labs located on the third floor, science and computer studies programming will emphasize 'crossover' opportunities where academic and athletic programs meet and reinforce each other in support of a unique curriculum.
